Hey guys!
You don’t understand how happy I am to finally be posting this video! Since we moved in I’ve been living off rails and out of boxes in the bathroom and even in London I didn’t have a proper wardrobe really just rails and shelves. So to finally have a dedicated wardrobe and a home for everything feels SO nice! To celebrate the occasion I thought it would be fun to share the moment of me putting everything away with you guys and deciding where things can go, plus of course I had a major clear out at the same time!

I originally wanted a built in wardrobe as the IKEA pax wardrobed don’t actually fit the space that well in terms of height and width, there are big gaps, but the price point was just so much cheaper than having a carpenter come in. I was quoted originally around £4,000 which isn’t in my opinion the amount I would want to spend on a wardrobe, whereas I got this entire system, minus the doors which i’ve not quite decided on yet ( a little DIY project might be still to come ) for around £700/ £750! The price is just too good to not get!
I’ve not quite decided what I’ll do with the top and sides yet, I’m thinking either to do longer doors that reach the ceiling to create the look of a built in wardrobe. Or I could fill in the gap with wood to make it look more built in, or just leave it there as storage! For the side I’m thinking perhaps another rail or some shelving, or even just keeping the gap for my suitcase and tripod, bits and bobs and storage! I think once we have the skirting board in and the doors on it will all become a lot clearer but I’m really enjoying taking my time with the house to make sure that everything is right!
In terms of the design of the wardrobe, you can go to the IKEA website and put i the dimensions of your space and plan everything you want there, I went and did it in store with one of the guys who plan them for people as I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t going to make any silly mistakes and they had some ideas and insight that really helped me. For example, I was going to do a whole section as shoe drawers and he pointed out that i wouldn’t be able to see the back shoes or the top drawers. He also suggested drawers instead of shelves as the PAX wardrobes are super deep and can fit two rows of shoes, that way i could have the shelves closer together and the shoes are more easily accessible! It’s just these little tips that I wouldn’t have thought about but they know as they do it so many times every day!
If anyone has any ideas for my spare space on top and sides I would love to hear!!
