Ugly trainers are having a thing. It’s official.

The best thing about this trend? They’re so comfortable . . like really. They’re padded, they’re supportive and they’re so completely man repelling you can’t help loving them a little bit, even if they are hideous. Well they’re not called ugly trainers for no reason now are they!?

The ugliest of the ugly trainers are of course the originals. The Balenciaga Triple S Style. The cream version are definitely the most hideous, closely followed by the multicoloured version that Lorna somehow made me feel I needed, don’t follow her, she has a habit of doing this. Then there’s the black pair, the pair I hold a soft spot for and secretly kind of love. And you know what happens when I fall in love with something so ridiculously on trend that I couldn’t possibly warrant splashing out for it only to be chucked to the back of my wardrobe in 6 months time? I dig for a dupe.

Popular and ugly in their own right, the Nike Air Max 95’s (get me with my trainer knowledge slash copy and pasting skills) are comfortable, chunky and an amazing alternative. I’m just hoping this trend lasts a while longer so my fashion blisters can lay back for a while in the comfort of the ugly trainers and heal before it’s time to get them out again for summer.

Though hang on a minute. How super cute would these ugly trainers look with a summer dress? I’m thinking reformation vibes and my new Chanel handbag hanging nonchalantly off my shoulder, maybe I do need those Balenciaga Triple S. All I’m saying is watch this space, and never say never when it comes to fashion.
