Nails by Natalie

Don’t be jealous, but my friend is pretty much a beauty genius. She’s slowly but surely turning me into a real life woman, last month I had my eyebrows done (I’m now on a brow programme – look at me) and this month I had my first ever manicure. I know, it’s shocking, I’ve never had a manicure before, I’m practically deprived #firstworldproblems. So back to Natalie (that’s the beauty genius’ name), she’s a pro in all things beauty and own’s her own salon (is that the right word?) in Stamford. So when I was sent some nail varnishes by the lovely people over at Models Own, who else do I call upon than my talented buddy? I lie, I did actually have a go at it myself, my boyfriend told me to “get help” after laughing in my face when I showed him my attempt. Honestly, what I did compared to this is an embaressment! She definitely sorted me out! I’d also like to apologise for the variety of different shades of my pictures, half are natural lighting and half are in the salon so it’s a bit of a mish mash! I had a little look on Pinterest for some nail inspo and decided on a more simple and fun style. This was all in aid of entering the #1234THUMBWAR competition being run by Models Own, if you fancy yourself an artist then have a go! The nail varnishes themselves are pretty bright colours, I’m usually more of a nude kinda gal, but I really love them, I can’t stop looking at them!! I found it a bit odd that the brushes were different, some of them were longer and thin where as others were a more short and stubby brush making it easier to apply. Most of the colours were really strong so only needed a couple of coats but the yellow was pretty watery so needed some hard work and a lot of patience! Here’s the finished result! What do you think? Are you a nude nail kinda gal like me or do you love your neon nails?

Monochrome Clash

Monochrome Clash

So I pretty much picked the worst location ever for this shoot! My poor photographer was risking her life with every photo standing in the middle of a busy road on a Saturday morning, not my finest moment! I was looking forward to styling up this Miss Pap top in all of it’s monochrome glory. I’m a bit sad I didn’t have it sooner for the good weather but I’m sure it will look lovely layered up and it’s perfect for drinks with friends and other evening activities! I’m a fan of a loose fit so this is perfect for me, I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many tops, particularly white ones! Seen as it’s getting far too chilly for my liking I decided to put my old friend the blanket scarf into good use. I love the clashing prints in this look, I always see other people doing this sort of thing and just never feel like I could pull it off myself. I guess if you’re going to try and do something like that then monochrome is definitely the way to start! I’m not honestly a huge fan of dog tooth (or is it hounds tooth?) in many things, I mean if it turns out to be a huge trend in the future I’m sure I’ll be eating my words. But I’ve always loved my trusted blanket scarf, it’s my only monochrome one so it probably gets the most wear of them all. The prints work well together, because the Miss Pap top has a larger print and the scarfs a smaller print they’re not so in your face when put together. Are you with me in making the switch to your winter wardrobe or are you still clinging on to summer? *Top : Miss Pap | Scarf : Old | Jeans : Topshop | *Shoes : Next Old | Bag : Zara

Autumn Neutrals

Autumn Neutrals

Unless this is the first time you’re reading my blog you’ll be very aware (and sick to the back teeth of hearing) that I’m a lover of neutrals. In particular, white t shirts. Now to the normal eye this is a white t shirt, I however think it’s much more than a white t shirt and should be deemed a top.  I picked this up when I was in Zara a few weeks ago, I did have to stop myself from buying it in stripes and navy and black and the list goes on. I love the boxy shape and the thicker material, but what really sold it to me was the texture of the material. It’s kind of like towelling without being absolutely hideous, it’s got bobbly ish texture, ok I’m not great at describing things, just get it, you’ll love it and you’ll thank me. It’s really cheap if I remember rightly and also its crisp white. Not ivory, not off white, its white white which I love. I layered it up with my favourite charity shop find cardigan which goes perfectly (off course it does its neural) my pastel bag from Brown & Berry. I love the girls over at Brown & Berry for constantly keeping me up to date with their latest arm candy. This ones real leather and pretty much goes with anything. This was my go to bag on holiday because you can also tuck the strap in so it’s a clutch for the evening! Top : Zara | Skirt : Primark Old (Similar Here) | Cardigan : Charity Shop (Similar Here) | *Wedges : Next Old (Similar Here) | *Bag : Brown & Berry | *Watch : Urban Watch   I’m still in love with this denim skirt too, I think I’ll still be wearing it in the winter with chunky knits! Forever 21 Favourites

Forever 21 Favourites

I can never resist a quick shop in Forever 21 whenever I’m in a 1 mile radius of a store, but I never think to shop online. I follow a lot of Americans and Canadians on Instagram and everything they have I want and where does it all come from? Forever 21 of course. Now I don’t know why but for some reason, probably the fact that it’s an american brand, I got it into my head that you had to pay for international shipping if you order online. Why didn’t I just check your thinking? I wonder about that same question myself. It’s the same as any other UK shipping and best of all, they’ve got that aged old favourite offer, spend £50 or over and you get free delivery. So I’m not sure if you’re familiar with forever 21 but it’s pretty much the best store ever, same kind of stuff as H&M and Topshop only with 1000’s to choose from and at a fraction of the price. I was so overwhelmed when I first looked (and so broke) that I only got the denim shirt. It’s pretty perfect to be honest, it’s only £19.00 and it’s really heavy denim so they clearly don’t skimp on quality to get the cheap prices! I did however enjoy putting together a little wishlist which come pay day I’ll be taking through the checkout. Bell Sleeve Slouchy Sweater : £15.00 | Denim Shirt : £19.00 | Striped Trim Ribbed Top : £12.00 | Boxy Utility Jacket : £25.00 | Genuine Suede Button-Front Jacket : £52.00 | Textured Open-Knit Sweater : £14.00 | Cuffed Cap-Sleeve Boxy Top : £10.00 | Buttoned Denim Pencil Skirt : £19.00 | Faux Suede Strappy Flats : £19.00 | Genuine Suede Mini Skirt : £22.00 | Frayed Stripe-Patterned Scarf : £11.00 | Wavy Knit Sweater : £14.00 Do you shop at Forever 21? Am I the only person on earth to have only just discovered it?? If you find any good pieces let me know! Don’t forget to nominate me in the Cosmopolitan blog awards if you haven’t already!! Rhodes | Family Time

Rhodes | Family Time

I was a bit apprehensive about our holiday in Greece, don’t get me wrong we were going for my big sisters wedding and I was nothing but extremely excited for that! We were however, staying in a 6 bed villa, all 7 of us. It was going to be the first time we’d all been in a house together for more than a day in a good few years and it definitely could have gone either way!! Clearly, I had nothing to worry about! We all got on like a house on fire, duh, we’re family of course we did! Honestly it really opened up my eyes to how much I take my family for granted, yeah I still live with my parents so I see them everyday but I don’t really see them properly, truly enjoying their company and taking in the moment. My sisters, I’m lucky if I see them once a week and I never see the whole family in the same room except for Christmas and Easter! We’ve always been a close family, I honestly have no secrets! But as we’ve grown older we’ve grown apart slightly, I know that’s to be expected but when we all live in the same town it’s down right ridiculous to not be seeing each other more often! So with this new found revelation that, actually, we all like each other and get on pretty damn well, I decided to organise a family dinner at least once a month. We haven’t had one yet but I’m going to make sure we do and that we keep doing them! I also thought I’d take this opportunity to share with you some of my holiday snaps from the villa, my Mum really hit the jackpot when she booked this pastel beauty! Do you still have family holidays? How do you stay in touch with your family? Don’t forget to follow me on Bloglovin!
