Wardrobe Staple : The Cashmere Jumper

I thought I’d do another post about the wardrobe staples as I seem to have accumulated another one! When I saw this cashmere jumper on the Boden website I had to get my hands on it. As I said before, there’s this unwritten list of wardrobe staples that all women should have. Cashmere Jumper A cashmere jumper is 100% at the top of the list of wardrobe staples that all women should have. I went for the v-neck style because I think it’s super flattering and I realised recently that I don’t actually own many v-necks, I’ve definitely got my eye on the round neck version next though! I don’t think theres a more classic colour that you’d want a cashmere jumper in than camel. It’s such a timeless colour that goes with pretty much anything. I love wearing my pieces oversized and envisioned myself snuggled up in this so I ordered it in the size above. If you like the fit of mine then I’d definitely recommend for you to do the same! Also – can we just take a minute of appreciation for these hems with the glove shoes? Perfect combo or what?? I have finally treated myself to a pair of black ones from Asos and they came today – so happy with them!! These are the ones I got! Holiday Essentials

Holiday Essentials

Talking about my holiday essentials, what I wear on my body and my face. The clothes pretty much go for the whole of summer – if it ever gets here in the UK. And the beauty bits, well I only like to take the bare minimal and minis are my everything. Cold Shoulders & Lace Ups Cold shoulders and lace ups are the butter and bread of holiday wardrobe sandwiches, did that make sense? I feel like that was either genius or ridiculous? Basically, if you don’t have a pair of gladiators and a cold shoulder top in your luggage/ summer wardrobe then you’re missing the two essentials to my holiday wardrobe/my summer essentials. Floaty cold shoulders are the ultimate in understated sexy and pretty much work for day night and anything in between. I’d say the same for gladiators, maybe not sexy, but they’re so damn wearable. These next ones bring a lil’ sumthin’ sumthin’ different to the table with all of that embroidered goodness that makes them look a bit special compared to it’s rivals on the high st. Holiday Essentials : Beauty So first of all – this is free when you spend £50 on Clinique in House of Fraser until 21st May – BUT thats still free. If you already shop at Clinique then just buying a couple of the things you use all the time and stocking up is the perfect way to bag you . . this bag? So anyway, sneaky blog titles aside, this bag has all of the holiday essentials covered. You get moisturiser, face moisturiser, eye cream, foundation/concealer, mascara and lipstick all in a handy bag, big enough to fit some of your favourites in! Even if you weren’t to use these on a daily basis I think it’s a great idea to just have something like this you can take with you if you’re going somewhere for the night and don’t want to think about it or have to take all of your full size products. This is exactly why minis are great! One Easy Look Like I said before, it’s a face in a bag! Aside from the skincare and bag, you also get foundation/concealer, mascara and lipstick. Granted the lipstick is a tad too bright for my liking and the foundation isn’t necessarily the one I’d use everyday but I would happily wear these if I was staying somewhere for the night and just wanted light and easy make up without bringing my whole collection! Let me know what your holiday essentials are! I always wear foundation or tinted moisturiser on holiday because my face either burns or I hide it so it’s pale! Who wants old wrinkly skin?!

Why I Cut My Hair Short With Sassoon

Why I Cut My Hair Short With Sassoon

I got my hair did. That’s basically what this post is about. I had it done a few months ago and went tentatively short, then this time I went the whole hog and got it proper short. Sassoon have truly restored my shaky faith in hairdressers so I thought I’d share my experience, what I asked for and how I decided what to get, to help you make the jump if you’re teetering on the edge! So this was just going to be a post full of pictures of me sexually grabbing my hair but then I thought it might look like some form of soft porn plus who doesn’t love an outfit? I also had these new sandals that I basically just wanted to show off. I love them incase you hadn’t guessed. This weather is on crack and I no longer know how to dress myself, so I ended up with a weird mix of sandals on my feet and a chunky knit on my top, it kind of works though. Shop The Look Click the images below to shop my look! Getting The Chop – Why Sassoon So as I kind of explained previously I already got my hair cut at Sassoon before – you can see my video about it here. I went pretty short from my previous longer locks, and this time, I went even shorter. When in Rome? I feel like looking back the first time I got it cut it was such an in between length and I love the shorter style, I feel like a smart lady. OK, maybe not quite a lady but I like it and I like the way it makes me feel. Of course I never would have even dared to go for this kind of chop if I hadn’t already experienced the talents of the lovely girls at Sassoon. Having the head colourist and one of the top stylists on your side, you know you’re in safe hands and just by talking to them about what I wanted I knew they knew what they were doing. I was first told that the length I wanted wouldn’t work. I wanted shoulder length but they quickly explained the hazards of this length – it flicking out and never sitting right being one of them. I went for slightly longer, I’m just not ready for slightly shorter yet! They also asked about how I style it on a day to day basis, adding in a few light layers so that when I curl my hair it’ll sit nicely – I didn’t even know things like that mattered! I have honestly never discussed things like this with my hairdresser before, I say I want it cut and she does whatever the hell she wants – hence why I don’t trust hairdressers all too easily. I am so happy with what Mia’s done with the colouring of my hair. She’s given me some really natural highlights using colouring only – no bleach, so that it grows out naturally and just generally gives…

Affiliate Links | What they are and how to use them

Affiliate Links | What they are and how to use them

I got a few questions on some of my previous posts about affiliate links. Though difficult to get your head round at first, it’s like riding a bike once you get the hang of it and you’re pretty much earning from something you already do  . . soooo why would you not use them? In this post I’ll be giving you a lil’ run down on what affiliate links are, effective ways to use them and what companies you can use affiliate links through. What are Affiliate Links? First thing’s first, if you don’t know what an affiliate link is, or you’re a blogger that isn’t using them then you are missing out my friend. Basically, an affiliate link adds tracking to allow the retailer to see that the sale has come from you and your site giving you a small percentage of commission on each sale. As fashion bloggers, we’re constantly suggesting products and telling people where things are from, so why shouldn’t we make 10p for a sale every now and then? If you bought something from a store, often the sales assistant would get commission so surely it’s only right that we get something for all of our hard work?! P.s if retailers know you get them loads of sales through your trackable links, there’s a high possibility they’ll want to play on this and work with you How Can You Use Affiliate Links? There’s lots of different ways to use affiliates and I probably still don’t know about half of them as each company uses different techniques. Here’s the key ones I’ve come across: Banners – I don’t use these, I didn’t find they were that effective (though I am considering adding just one back in) and found them messy. Not only do I like my home page to be super clean and easy to navigate, but I also dislike anything that takes people away from my site before they’ve even read the content Links – Pretty much self explanatory, just adding links into your post as you usually would but with the tracking Instagram Apps – Some companies also allow you to link the products via your instagram images so people can shop your looks from their phones Widgets – There’s lots of little widgets you can use like the one I’ve created belowfor this outfit. It allows you to shop the products from the store images, a more visual way of shopping the look than just written links. Online Shops – You can also create ‘shop my look‘ pages or ‘shop my wardrobe’ which personally I love on other peoples blogs as it gives you inspo when you want to shop but don’t know where to start! I’m actually thinking of creating one for my site so let me know what you think and if it’s something you’d like to see! How To Get Affiliate Links I’ve listed below the companies you can use to create your affiliate links, I personally use Reward Style. It’s not the easiest affiliate scheme to get on to as they don’t accept everyone but from…

A Wardrobe Staple | The Black Jacket

A Wardrobe Staple | The Black Jacket

To me, although I’ve never really had a black jacket, it’s definitely a wardrobe staple. I mean I’ve had leather jackets and all that, but to me, a black jacket is just timeless, but then so is a leather jacket . . but this isn’t a post about a leather jacket! I got this piece from Jigsaw and specifically chose this one as it’s more me, as black jacket’s go. I love the relaxed tailoring and loose fabric, I don’t think I’m for ready super sharp tailoring just yet though I am obsessed with Jigsaw’s tailoring section! I didn’t know how to style it when I first got it, I’m so used to more relaxed pieces that wearing a black jacket, though a wardrobe staple as discussed, seemed foreign to me. I love it with just the jeans and heels, it’s the perfect smart casual look and I’ll be styling it in plenty of different ways soon so keep an eye out! I’m loving mixing in more tailored pieces with my wardrobe, I feel like they’re timeless pieces that instantly make a piece look smart and pulled together. As my style develops I’m starting to realise the importance of investing in a few higher priced pieces that mix in well with some of my favourite high street pieces! See what I mean in my previous post about how jackets make anything look smart! These Public Desire heels are honestly uh-mazing. I’ve been lusting after these Topshop ones for a while so when PD brought out their own more affordable pair it was pretty much a no brainer. Just take a moment to appreciate the cuffs on those jeans. . . they deserve it. Shop The Look Shop my look by clicking on the images below!
