If you follow me on instagram you’ll know that December was a bad skin month for me. As someone who usually gets one spot a month around that time I didn’t know what to do with my new skincare issues and where to turn. The more I tried to treat it and the more my sensitive skin reacted and I even developed a rash from the different products I’d been trying out. It’s fair to say I’d got myself in a bit of a skincare rut. Around that time I was contacted by Bioderma about trying their skincare for a post (the one you’re reading now) and it was honestly the last thing I wanted to do.

Trying yet more products on my already confused skin was not what I thought I needed but being town between not wanting to do anything at all and desperately trying to find a solution, I figured why not give it a go? After all, I had heard a lot of good things about the micellar water of which Marianna Hewitt is a fan – can’t be bad right?

So I tried it, not just the make up removing micelle solution that I had heard so much about and quite frankly was the only product I’d heard about from the brand, but also the hydrabio face cream, the eye contour gel and the gentle shower gel (of which I haven’t photographed because I left it at my mums over christmas . . gutted). The result? Amazing. Within days my skin was looking fresher and brighter and all of my spots had slowly shrunk down to nothing.
Micellar water was never something I thought I needed, quite frankly because I didn’t know what it was, how it worked or what it did. I still don’t know a lot about it but I now know it’s something I need in my routine for that extra clean feeling and to remove any excess dirt left on my face. I use it after I cleanse at night and before I put my face cream on in the morning. I especially appreciate this extra step now that I’m living in London because I feel like the city, dirty air clogs up my skin so I need a little extra clean at the end of the day!
Since blogging I’ve tried a plethora of different face creams in my time and this is definitely up there with the best of them. My two favourite things about the cream, other than that it’s clearly doing some kind of magic to my face, are the smell; not too obnoxiously perfumed but still enough scent so that it doesn’t feel clinical, and the consistency. I love a heavier cream that feels more luxurious but you don’t want one that doesn’t sink in. This is the perfect thickness so that it feels really creamy and moisturising, not watery, but it still sinks in easily and doesn’t leave your skin moist for half an hour.
Finally I have to give a mention to the eye cream because if I’ve said it once on here I’ve said it a thousand times. My eye bags are my biggest insecurity and as a result I’ve spent hundreds on concealers and eye creams over the years. This is super lightweight and with the amount of sleep I got over the christmas period it’s been doing an almighty job of making me look well rested on days when I was hanging out of my arse. If there’s a real test for eye cream then the christmas drinking season is 100% it!
Have you guys tried any of these products? what were your thoughts? I’m definitely interested in trying more from the brand now that I’m hooked and BTW I’m still not sure what Micellar water does but it’s now officially part of my die hard skincare routine.
